Seagate Portable 2TB External Hard Drive, USB 3.0, STGX2000400

Seagate•$100-$200•4.6 / 5 (151710)

Quick verdict

The straightforward way to add 2TB of backup space for photos, documents and media libraries. Expect hard-drive transfer speeds, not SSD speeds.

Summary

A bus-powered 2TB external hard drive over USB 3.0, built for everyday backup and moving files between machines rather than high-speed editing.

Best for

People backing up a photo or media library, shuttling large files between Windows and Mac machines, or adding cheap bulk storage next to a desktop.

Not ideal for

Anyone editing 4K footage or moving big project files daily, where a portable SSD is far faster for similar money. Also skip it if the drive will ride loose in a bag, since spinning platters dislike drops.

Key features

Decision-friendly highlights instead of raw spec overload.

2TB capacity in a USB 3.0 bus-powered enclosure with no separate power adapter

Plug-and-play on Windows and macOS with no driver install

Ships with an 18-inch USB 3.0 cable and a one-year warranty

Hard-drive read and write speeds mean large transfers take real time; this is not an SSD

Spinning platters are sensitive to drops and vibration, so it is safer left on a desk than carried loose

Anker USB C Hub, 7-in-1 Multi-Port Adapter, 4K@60Hz HDMI, 85W PD

A compact way to turn a single USB-C port into HDMI, extra USB ports and a card reader. Pass-through tops out at 85W, so power-hungry laptops will still lose ground while charging.
